DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, July 16\, 2024 – 9am  – 1pm\nTexas Quarry\n10000 Beaver Dam Rd.Cockeysville\, MD 21030 \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Martin Marietta’s Texas Quarry is an active mine located in Cockeysville\, Maryland and is one of the most spectacular hidden gemstones in Baltimore Co.  \nOn this tour\, we will learn about important safety practices involved in their day-to-day business.  We’ll travel down to the base of the pit to see where the raw material comes from\, and then back up to the sales yard to see processes that produce the final material. \nCurrently spanning over one mile North to South and over half a mile East to West\, the first written records of mining at this location were in 1802 by a group of Irish immigrants. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a “three-hour-tour” of the island to learn about engineering and environmental aspects of what has become an international model for the beneficial use of dredged material. \nProject Summary\nPoplar Island is an environmental restoration located in Talbot County\, Maryland.
